MITEC – UBM Malaysia Partnership
United Business Media (M) Sdn Bhd (UBM Malaysia) has signed up a five-year long term business deal with MITEC for organizing its business events and trade shows. Malaysia’s business events industry is booming exponentially and this five-year agreement is a testimony to the fact that the future looks promising.
With this trade and business Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) locked-in, four of UBM’s renowned business events from 2019 to 2023 and a biennial event from 2019 to 2028 will be hosted at the facility.
On the occasion of MoU signing ceremony Mr. Gunther Beissel, CEO MITEC and M. Gandhi, Group Managing Director (ASEAN Business) & Senior Vice President of UBM Asia expressed joy and happiness. Beissel shared, “We are very pleased and honoured to be the Venue of Choice for UBM’s business events exhibitions. It is a great achievement for a venue that is just a year into business”.
He continued, “This agreement showcases that MITEC is not just a venue provider but a long-term business partner who creates opportunities for continuous growth and stakeholders’ sustainability. This fruitful partnership is estimated to generate RM 261.2 million economic impact, which I believe, represents both brands’ firm commitment in setting benchmarks for Malaysia’s business events industry”.
Partnering with a global brand in the business events industry, having more than 50 offices worldwide, UBM Malaysia takes the centre stage with several impressive events including the Malaysian International Furniture Fair (MIFF) 2018 held at MITEC this year.
Gandhi explained, “There are important considerations for show organizers when selecting a venue and one of the key criteria for shows to expand is to have ample exhibition space in a client-focused venue. This is where MITEC comes in strong, as demonstrated during MIFF 2018”. He also said that just in 2018, UBM has leased a total of 90,000 sqm of exhibition space. “In the next five years, exhibitions organised by UBM is expected to grow in scale annually. Malaysia’s largest exhibition space caters to our needs, which is benefitting our visitors and attendees”.
MITEC – On a winning spree
MITEC opened its gates for the Business Events industry in August 2017. Ever since MITEC has played host to over 90 business events and major regional and international exhibitions with an increase of 110% in booth stands size. A footfall of approx. 352,148 visitors was recorded during the period. Clearly an indication that MITEC has both the might and the capability to cater to large exhibitions and events of international stature.
Working together hand-in-hand by MITEC-UBM has been recorded in the past as well. Since it is in interest of both parties to take advantage of mutual synergies, the partnerships result in a win-win situation for both. July 2018, witnessed UBM Malaysia launching its inaugural Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) project, Kind Malaysia 2018. It is a platform to connect corporates with civil society, in partnership with #myWorld by MITEC. The two-day event and expo which will be held from 24–25 October 2018 aims to highlight the importance of creating a culture of kindness within corporate set-ups and assist them with delivering various CSR initiatives.
These continuous partnerships will undoubtedly accelerate the growth for both industry players and the country’s business events sector through knowledge and skill sharing, two main pull factors when it comes to exhibitions and international events apart from the destination itself.
